An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Trade Compliance Manager to join a global engineering organisation based in Fife.
This is a key role within the business, taking responsibility for import and export control compliance and ensuring operations remain compliant with UK, US and international regulations. You’ll act as a subject matter expert across the organisation, providing practical guidance while supporting the successful delivery of complex commercial and regulated programmes.
The Role
Working closely with teams across Engineering, Sales, Projects, Supply Chain and Customer Support, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing export licence applications and associated documentation
- Acting as a key point of contact with relevant regulatory authorities
- Developing and maintaining export control and sanctions procedures
- Advising the wider business on export control, sanctions and trade compliance requirements
- Delivering training and increasing compliance awareness across the organisation
- Monitoring changes to legislation and translating these into practical business requirements
- Supporting internal audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews
- Maintaining accurate records and regulatory reporting
- Working with international counterparts on authorisations and trade compliance requirements
- Providing pragmatic, risk-based advice to support new business opportunities and programme delivery
About You
We’re looking for someone with strong experience within Export Control, Trade Compliance or a similar regulatory environment, ideally gained within:
Maritime | Naval | Defence | Aerospace | Engineering
You’ll bring:
- Strong knowledge of UK Export Control legislation and licensing
- Experience managing export licence applications
- Understanding of military and dual-use classifications
- Knowledge of UK sanctions regulations and international trade compliance
- Experience carrying out audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- The ability to interpret complex regulations and turn them into clear, practical guidance
Experience with EAR / ITAR, UK MOD F680 / F1686, customs compliance or international logistics would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
