I’m working with a long-established manufacturing client based in Kirkcaldy who are entering an exciting period of growth — with plans to expand the business by around one third over the next four years.
Procurement will be central to making that happen.
They are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Buyer to lead sourcing and procurement activity across key raw materials and overseas supply. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape supply chain strategy, strengthen global supplier partnerships and drive commercial value across the business.
💡 Why this role stands out:
This isn’t a transactional buying position. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, Finance, Logistics and Sales, influencing decisions and aligning procurement strategy with production needs and long-term business objectives.
If you enjoy building resilient supply chains, leading tenders and driving continuous improvement, this role offers real ownership and visibility.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Analysing global raw material and manufacturing markets
- Identifying complementary products and suppliers to support in-house manufacturing
- Developing and executing strategic sourcing and tender strategies
- Building long-term, high-performing supplier partnerships
- Monitoring commodity markets and managing price volatility and supply risk
- Leading supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery and sustainability
- Driving continuous improvement, innovation and year-on-year cost savings
- Using ERP systems and analytics to manage spend, KPIs and procurement efficiency
- Regular supplier engagement, both on-site and travel to suppliers.
What they’re looking for:
- 7+ years’ procurement / supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, supplier management and contract negotiation
- Proven experience delivering cost savings and strategic sourcing initiatives
- Confident running tenders and negotiating commercially robust agreements
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with technical and operational teams
- ERP experience (Dynamics NAV highly beneficial) and strong Excel skills
- Degree qualified (Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or similar); CIPS advantageous
- Willingness to travel as part of the role
🌍 The opportunity:
You’ll be joining a stable, respected manufacturing business with a clear growth vision — where procurement is recognised as a strategic function, not a back-office one.
