Our client, a leading manufacturing company located in Hawick, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer with Electrical bias. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of plant equipment through scheduled preventive maintenance and immediate response to unplanned breakdowns. As a crucial part of the engineering team, you will work closely with the Plant Leader to align maintenance activities with production demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose faults and implement effective repairs for unplanned breakdowns.
- Collaborate with the Plant Leader to coordinate maintenance around production schedules.
- Keep the CMMS updated with completed work orders and spare parts usage.
- Analyse maintenance data to propose reliability improvements.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure stock availability.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.
Requirements:
- Recognised engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship in Electrical or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineering.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and CMMS systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics is an advantage.
- Competence in root cause analysis and fault-finding techniques.
