We’re seeking a Head of Engineering & Maintenance to join a high-performing manufacturing site in Inverness. This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the General Manager, with full accountability for engineering strategy, asset reliability, and maintenance excellence across the site.
The Opportunity
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will:
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering function (Mechanical, Electrical, Projects, Reliability, Planning)
- Embed Asset Management (ISO 55000 principles) and drive best practice maintenance strategies
- Improve plant reliability, uptime and operational performance
- Reduce repeat failures through structured Root Cause Analysis and defect elimination
- Champion health, safety and environmental compliance at the highest level
- Drive CMMS governance, schedule compliance and risk-based maintenance
- Deliver engineering projects with maintainability and long-term performance in mind
- Develop a high-performing, engaged, and future-ready engineering team
- You’ll play a pivotal role in improving MTBF, reducing downtime, enhancing KPI performance, and supporting the wider business strategy.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a commercially aware, technically strong leader who can influence at every level of the organisation.
You will bring:
- Significant senior engineering leadership experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management and reliability engineering
- Experience implementing structured maintenance strategies and governance frameworks
- A track record of driving performance improvement and cost control
- Strong understanding of CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A solid grounding in Health & Safety, statutory compliance and safe systems of work
- Experience with ISO-aligned asset management frameworks is highly advantageous.
