We are partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Commodity Manager. This is a key strategic role responsible for developing best-in-class commodity strategies and driving supplier performance across a portfolio of critical components.
About the Role
As Commodity Manager, you will play a crucial part in shaping procurement strategy, delivering cost improvements, and ensuring supply chain stability. You will collaborate closely with engineering and procurement teams to support both current production and new product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic commodity strategies for key components
- Identify and onboard new suppliers that enhance cost, quality, delivery, and innovation
- Achieve annual cost-saving targets (PPV/VIP) and contribute to overall profitability
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
- Drive improvements in supplier performance, cost competitiveness, and supply availability
- Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers
- Proactively manage supply chain risk to ensure continuity and stability
- Collaborate with internal teams to support early supplier involvement and cost optimisation initiatives
- Provide support to the wider procurement function as required
Skills & Experience Required
- Extensive experience in commodity management in a manufacturing environment
- Strong background in strategic sourcing and supplier management
- Proven expertise in supplier relationship and performance management
- Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to build effective internal and external relationships
- Confident decision-maker, able to work with limited time and information
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, meet deadlines, and deliver results
