We are looking for a skilled Commodity Buyer to manage a defined portfolio of commodities within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing commodity strategies, driving cost improvements, and managing supplier relationships to deliver business objectives.
Please note - this role is a 12 month FTC
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a defined group of commodities and develop strategic plans aligned with business goals
- Maximise supplier competition and collaboration opportunities where appropriate
- Design, issue, and evaluate RFQs and tenders
- Identify value improvement opportunities and deliver target cost reductions
- Conduct supplier negotiations to achieve optimal commercial terms
- Monitor commodity price movements and exploit cost-saving opportunities
- Develop risk management strategies for specific commodities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Manage key supplier performance through scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify, introduce, and develop new suppliers for commercial advantage
Skills & Experience Required
- Thorough knowledge of procurement and commodity management, including sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management, and global sourcing
- Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen
- Strong supplier relationship management skills
- Excellent negotiation, persuasion, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to influence outcomes and convince stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
