Rising Talent Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Commodity Buyer to join their Group Procurement team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who enjoys taking ownership of their commodity areas, developing supplier strategies and using their commercial and negotiation skills to deliver tangible cost and performance improvements.
As Commodity Buyer, your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of a defined group of commodities
- Developing and implementing commodity strategies aligned with wider business objectives
- Using supply market intelligence to identify commercial opportunities
- Managing RFQ and tender processes from issue through to evaluation
- Leading commercial negotiations with suppliers
- Identifying and delivering cost reduction and value improvement opportunities
- Monitoring commodity and market price movements
- Developing appropriate risk management strategies across your commodity portfolio
- Managing and developing relationships with key suppliers
- Monitoring supplier performance through scorecards and agreed measures
- Identifying, introducing and developing new suppliers
- Maximising opportunities for supplier competition and collaboration
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and working cross-functionally to achieve business objectives
About You
We are looking for someone with strong procurement and commodity management experience who is commercially minded, confident in negotiations and comfortable taking ownership of supplier relationships.
Ideally, you will have:
- Around 3+ years' experience within a similar Procurement, Buying or Commodity Management role
- Strong sourcing and supplier management experience
- Experience of commercial negotiations and delivering cost savings
- Knowledge of commodity management and strategic sourcing
- Experience of RFQs and tendering
- Strong supplier relationship management skills
- Good commercial and business acumen
- The ability to influence, negotiate and challenge effectively
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Experience of global sourcing would be advantageous
- CIPS qualification or a relevant business degree would be beneficial
