We’re working with a well-established manufacturing business in Stirling who are looking to appoint a Buyer to support their operational and project procurement activity.
This is a key role sitting at the heart of the business, working closely with engineering and operations to ensure materials, equipment, and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with project timelines.
As Buyer, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day purchasing activity while building strong supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing purchase requisitions and placing accurate, timely orders
- Acting as the main purchasing contact for engineering and operational teams
- Managing supplier relationships, performance, and day-to-day communication
- Preparing RFQs, tender enquiries, and cost schedules
- Expediting deliveries to support production and project deadlines
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and contributing to wider savings targets
- Sourcing new suppliers and evaluating cost, quality, and suitability
- Supporting the implementation of lean supply chain practices
- Resolving supplier and invoice queries efficiently
- Ensuring all procurement activity aligns with internal processes and compliance standards
You’ll also stay close to market trends and emerging technologies, helping the business continuously improve its procurement strategy.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a solid background in procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
You’ll bring:
- At least 3 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role
- Strong knowledge of supply chain operations, logistics, and compliance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong negotiation and influencing ability
- A detail-focused, analytical approach with good numerical accuracy
- The ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- CIPS qualification would be advantageous
