We are working with a well-established and globally recognised business who is looking for a Buyer to join the team.
The objective of the role is to source and procure spare parts that deliver optimum performance, minimise lifecycle costs, and ensure on-time delivery in line with operational requirements.
This is a fast-paced, time-critical role where you will be responsible for managing urgent and emergency orders, proactively expediting supply, and ensuring all stakeholders are kept fully informed throughout the process.
You will work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, engineering teams and operational stakeholders to ensure materials are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Request quotations in line with operational requirements
- Negotiate pricing, cost reductions and improved delivery times
- Raise, issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring ERP systems are updated accurately
- Expedite deliveries and resolve order-related issues
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all orders prior to issue
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Manage vendor performance and address non-performance issues
- Support supplier agreements and performance reviews
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Understand operational requirements and drive service improvements
About You
- Previous experience in a procurement / buyer role
- Experience working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Proactive, enthusiastic and solutions-focused mindset
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Working towards or holding CIPS membership (desirable but not essential)
