We’re working with a well-established manufacturing business in Dundee who are looking to add a Buyer to their supply chain team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role supporting the Materials Manager and playing a key part in keeping production moving smoothly.
You’ll be responsible for managing specific commodities end-to-end, ensuring the right materials are available in the right quantities at the right time to support production and planning activities
Responsibilities:
- Managing end-to-end purchase order activity, including raising POs, order acknowledgements, delivery tracking and shortage management
- Proactively managing and expediting material shortages to minimise impact on production and control costs
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including leading regular supplier meetings focused on delivery, stock agreements and performance
- Owning inventory levels and material availability for your commodity area
- Working closely with internal teams across production, planning, logistics and quality
- Coordinating supplier collections with approved logistics partners
- Resolving goods receiving queries, invoice holds and quality return issues
- Using ERP to ensure all standard work activities are completed on time
- Utilising supply chain tools such as Pick Lists, Vendor Schedules or Kanban where applicable
- Contributing to continuous improvement projects and championing change
- Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc duties as required
Successful candidate:
- Previous experience in a Buyer role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong ERP experience
- Confident MS Office user, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, organised and self-motivated approach
